03/14/10 7:00pm - 9:00pm The Preservation Hall Jazz Band - Louisiana Crossroads
Louisiana Crossroads Presents:
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band Sunday, March 14 7pm
Tickets Are $25
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band began touring in 1963 in support of the mission of their home, which opened in 1961 to offer everyone a chance to experience the sounds of New Orleans in an intimate and direct forum - a venue with no drinks, air conditioning or other such accoutrements. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the multi-generational group has emerged as both goodwill and philanthropic ambassadors, and these rare south Louisiana shows will open with a brief documentary film and offer unprecedented encounters with the storied histories of the band, its members and the group's namesake venue. Louisiana Crossroads is an economic development initiative of the Acadiana Arts Council and the Lafayette Economic Development Authority. Over the years we have worked with our many partners to assist artists, individuals, businesses and non-profits in our region in their efforts to further develop our region's cultural economy infrastructure. |
